Advanced craftsmanship
The Åre Ski Factory (Åre Skidfabrik in Swedish) is northern Europe's only alpine ski factory, located a few kilometers outside of the ski resort of Åre in Sweden - at the foot of the mountain.
The factory has been expanded in stages since we moved here in 1993 and is today one of the world's most advanced production facilities for ski manufacturing.
Our factory was expanded in 2020 and, in addition to state-of-the-art machinery, also has an advanced system for heat recovery from the ski presses, which has reduced our energy use by 70% compared to before.
At the same time, we place great importance on having a good, safe and inclusive working environment for our employees – who also happen to be a group of passionate skiers themselves.
Sustainability
Åre Skidfabrik currently operates the world's most sustainable ski production - a pair of skis from us has the absolute lowest CO2 footprint of all skis in the world.
Much is thanks to our location, which allows us to use 100% renewable energy from local hydropower, but also because of our production methods and choice of materials.

We are proud and happy to be able to offer around 15 people full-time employment year-round in a community in the Swedish rural areas and make it possible to enjoy the high quality of life that Åre offers.
Sweden has some of the strictest rules and laws in the world when it comes to the work environment and we always strive to do everything we can to ensure that our staff feel good and are happy to come to work every morning.
We are a small and flat organization, and we encourage everyone to contribute what they can to make our workplace better and develop our production methods.
Custom Made
Through Extrem Custom Made we can create skis with your own, unique design for your company, club or group of friends. We start from one of our existing models and then build them with specially designed uppers.

Passion since 1981
The story of Extrem started in 1981 in a garage on Frösön in northern Sweden when two teenagers were inspired to build their own snowboards in their parents' garage.
Over 40 years later, the passion is just as strong and the hobby has become a successful business.
