1. All our skis are handmade in our own factory in Åre, Sweden
All Extrem skis are produced at our own state-of-the-art factory just outside the ski town of Åre in northern Sweden. Here, a tight-knit crew of around 15 people use high-tech machinery and the best raw materials to carefully craft our skis, driven by passion and over 40 years of experience.
2. We operate the most sustainable ski production in the world
A study we conducted together with RISE, the state-owned Research Institutes of Sweden, showed that the energy mix used for production has the single biggest impact on the footprint of a pair of skis, even more than the materials used. The region where we live and work – north-central Sweden – has the lowest CO₂ intensity per kWh in the world, producing 100% renewable and 100% fossil-free energy from local hydropower.
A pair of Extrem skis has a carbon footprint of 28.8 kgCO₂– we firmly believe that's the lowest of any ski brand in the world. Building an identical pair of skis in a country with a higher carbon intensity can be up to 400% higher, with a footprint of up to 120 kgCO₂per ski.

3. All of our skis are designed, constructed, built, and tested entirely by us
Even though we’re a small ski brand, we don’t outsource any part of our process – besides raw materials – and do everything ourselves.
So when you send us an email or give us a call, the person you’re talking to has been part of the entire development process, from drawing up the first concepts to the testing of the final prototypes. In other words, we know everything there is to know about our skis. And then some.
4. We believe that skis should last for many winters
We’re a bunch of passionate skiers who simply love skiing, and we know what it means to ski hard and that doing so isn’t always friendly on your gear. That’s the reason we create skis that can take a beating and last for many years to come.
That’s why we use the thickest steel edges and bases on the market – simply because they’re more durable and you can service your skis more times before they wear out. It’s also why we always use black race bases on all of our skis. They might not look as snazzy and fun as colored ones, but they glide faster, are easier to repair and last longer.

5. In the end, it’s all about the fun of skiing
We make the skis we want to ski ourselves, and we want every ski in our lineup to serve a clear purpose. And they have the feel and characteristics that we ourselves cherish, enjoy and look for.
For sure, we’ve tested and like skis from a number of other ski brands. But when we design and build skis, this is the waywe like them. For every ski model, we’ve tried many different prototypes to land on a construction we feel gives us the most satisfaction when skiing them. And in the end, skiing is all about having fun. What’s the point otherwise?
6. We’re an independent ski brand powered by a small but highly skilled team
We’re an independently owned ski brand that’s not part of any conglomerate. Our marketing pockets might not be as deep as some of our fellow ski brands out there, but our passion for skiing is just as big, or even bigger. So when you buy a pair of skis from us, you not only support a different path in the world of skiing, but you’re also part of our community.
