Extrem Ski Co and Skistar launch the Project 83 Eco – the world’s most sustainably produced ski.
December 12, 2025
For the winter season 25/26, Extrem Ski Co, in collaboration with Skistar, launches the Project 83 Eco. A ski produced in Extrem’s own factory in Åre, powered by 100% renewable and 100% fossil-free energy from local hydropower. From the very start, the goal has been to build a ski with as high a share of bio-based and recycled materials as possible, without compromising strength or longevity. This likely makes Project 83 Eco the world’s most sustainably produced ski, with a carbon footprint of less than 28.8 CO₂ per pair.
Perhaps the most important sustainability factor is that a ski can be used for a long time. That’s why Project 83 Eco features the market’s thickest steel edges and base, built to withstand as many days on snow as possible.
“When we presented the concept of Project 83 Eco, Skistar immediately became very interested, as it aligns perfectly with their own sustainability work. Beyond the sustainability aspect, the ski model itself turned out incredibly well and is now part of Extrem’s regular lineup,” says Carl Geijer, CEO of Åre Skidfabrik and Extrem Ski Co.

Its construction delivers a well-balanced mix of stability and agility, while a subtle rocker in the tip and tail makes it easy to handle in any situation.
“This is a great ski that works really well across our five destinations, both on freshly groomed corduroy and in spring slush,” says Markus Skullman, buyer at Skistar.\n\nThis winter, Extrem Project 83 Eco will be available for rental at Skistar’s five destinations in the Scandinavian mountains, as well as for purchase in Skistarshop Conceptstores and online, and on Extrem’s own webshop."
